April 10, 2009April 1, 2009Ouroboros PortalOh squeel! This is the greatest thing to date in the landscape of city travel. Ouroboros is a special zone that can only be accessed via an "Ouroboros portal" that you open with a power that you can earn in various ways (which I'll explain in a sec). The portal can be used almost anywhere (including inside of missions) and teleports you directly to Ouroboros. Once there, you can click on the Ouroboros portal to exit the zone and are given a choice of several zones to go to. It's essentially like being able to teleport directly to a Train! And on that note, if you get one of those "Board Train" missions that lists your mission as a train destination, you can get to those from Ouroboros! Ouroboros is an especially fast way to travel because you teleport directly to the entrance of Ouroboros and if you just turn around and click the exit portal immediatly, you are presented with a list of available zones to transport to. For heroes, this is most of the higher-level city zones (and also Atlas Park) and for villains, it goes almost everywhere (since there aren't many villain zones). So now that I convinced you to get one, how do you do it? It's actually pretty easy. Generally you have to be more than level 25 to get it, but there are two ways to get it before then:
Even if you have the power or ask someone to open the portal for you, you still won't be able to get in before level 25 There are also two ways to get the portal power after reaching level 25. Both require that you ask someone else to open the portal for you. Once it's open, click it to enter Ouroboros and then do one of the following:
Jump Jet Pack and Pocket D TeleporterThe PD Teleporter drops you right in Pocket D's VIP lounge. This is a very quick way to travel to certain places. If you never bought the Good vs. Evil edition of City of Heroes which gives you the Pocket D teleporter, the Jump Jet Pack, and the extra costume pieces, you can buy those separately for $10. The amount of time you save in travel because of the Pocket D teleporter and Jump Jet Pack are worth it alone, but the costume pieces are really pretty neat (better than some of the Veteran Reward stuff anyway). For low level travel (and even later), the $10 is totally worth it. If you haven't heard about Pocket D, have someone show you. Many holiday events are held there, but more importantly, it connects several zones together providing an alternate form of travel. Right now, PD connects Kings Row, Founder's Falls, Talos Island, and Faultline (Port Oakes, Sharkhead, and St. Martial for Villains). It's important for saving travel time even if you don't have the teleporter. Granted, Pocket D isn't the awesome nexus it used to be now that the Ouroboros portal is here, but you still have to be level 25 for that and PD is still one of the fastest ways to get to Kings Row or Faultline. Not only can the jump jet pack get you out of holes, but if you're flying, it increases your flight speed The jump jet pack is a power that when activated let's you jump in mid-air as many times as you want until the power wears off. It slows down your horizontal movement, but will get you out of crevasses and over steep walls. It saves a lot of time wasted due to falling in the wrong place. It's a life saver for people playing villains since so many villain zones have huge vertical walls (even from the very first zone) and getting around is much easier. Second, if your character has Super Speed, you might be tempted to get Hover or Super Jump to handle vertical travel, but with the jump pack, that's often no longer necessary. Lastly, when the jump pack is active (30 seconds of use per activation), your flight speed significantly increases. So if you have hover or fly and want to move a little faster, hit your jump pack when crossing zones. March 22, 2009News - 2009.03.22This is the brand new design for Jordan's Town! The only problem is that I spent the last 2 and a half weeks straight working only on the design and presentation, not the content. That means that there's still much work to be done to get it fully updated for current information. Please be patient! Don't forget to check out the contest over at the Battleclinic forums. Just post a picture, story or some CoH/V info (check the thread for details) and be eligible for a drawing for a 30 or 60 day timecard! Closes March 29th. July 26, 2008Next Page » |

Atlas Park - One of the two starting areas for heroes. Generally the more popular of the two because it has access to the sewers where people can quickly level to 10 after creating their character.
Because it's not very flat, travel in Atlas can be a pain at early levels so if you want to follow story arcs, Galaxy might be better. However, if you are playing a Peacebringer, your special contact is in Atlas so that's another good reason to start there.
Also noted for having the city representative who is the source for missions that unlock capes and auras for costumes and also the
